Greens Renovation

Boots Hollow Greens Design Philosophy

From the Architect

The new greens sit softly in the ground. The undulations are an extension of the natural landscape. The integration of short grass in the greens surrounds promotes a variety of chipping and ground game shot options. The tactical approach on some greens will be clear and distinct to certain pin locations. Other greens rely on more subtle contouring, only to be discovered after multiple rounds played.

Our design reconnects the relationship between the greens and the bunkers. The new green shapes wrap around and close to the bunkers, with new challenging pin locations near the edges. There is always the safer option of aiming at the center of the green, but that will likely result in a longer first putt.

They vary in size, shape and orientation, but all were designed to be receptive, playable for all skill levels and for the enjoyment of every golfer. We set out to create a varied set of eighteen unique greens; each with a slightly different personality, whether that be through diverse internal contours & tilt or a combination of both.

The famous Golden Age golf architect C.B. Macdonald once said that putting greens to a golf course are what the face is to a portrait. We feel that holds true at Boots Hollow.
